Description
The Data Collection & Management team at CFRA is responsible for collecting and managing various forms of financial data. Our data is used by our in-house teams to generate products for our end customers – institutional investors, brokers and wealth managers, among others. We manage the automated ingestion of data, as well as collect information manually. Everything we do helps to ensure the highest levels of data quality, completeness and timeliness. We recognize that data is a critical asset to every organization, and we view ourselves as stewards of that asset for CFRA.
About This Role
You enjoy working with data. You are passionate about how data can facilitate insights and tell stories. You are a quick learner who is interested in finance, and will enjoy working with data about companies, equities, funds (mutual funds and exchange-traded funds), and other financial instruments.
You are detail-oriented, and able to work independently. You have strong quantitative skills and are very analytical.
When you encounter a problem, you think critically about the root cause and come up with suggestions for long term solutions. You also are constantly on the lookout for ways to improve our processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract data from various data sources and enter it into a database
- Monitor and perform quality assurance on data ingested via automated processes.
- Interact with a Scrum Team for identifying and resolving issues with automated processes.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Manage & monitor the end to end Mutual Fund Data Lifecycle from Collection, Processing to Quality Assurance of Mutual Funds data.
- 1-3 years experience in a data or finance-related role specifically in North American ETFs or Mutual Fund space.
- Work closely with Product development and Technology to ensure successful development and implementation of new products and product enhancements.
- Drive efficiencies and process improvements within the team.
- Oversee management reporting and efficiency metrics.
- Build relationships with Global Mutual Funds/ETF issuers, Authorized Participants and External Vendors.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or Accounting
- 1-3 years experience in a data or finance-related role
- Detail-oriented, analytical nature
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge on SEC, SEDAR documents preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Mutual Funds, ETFs and Investing space.
- Proven work experience in Mutual Funds Holding Data and deep understanding of corporate actions and market identifiers.
- Excellent analytical & problem solving skills.
- A strong team player with an ability to work in teams distributed across the globe, ability to influence across multiple teams.
- Adaptability to a fast paced, consistently changing environment.
- Hands-on experience working with development teams on ETL operations.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, machine-learning or similar technical skills
