The Data/BI Engineer role will be part of Advisor360°’s Product & Engineering organization, as a member of our team. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining important data, BI, and data visualization capabilities and processes across the Advisor360° platform. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging modern analytics, reporting, and visualization technology as they work with business stakeholders to achieve our growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders at all levels to develop reporting and visualization solutions for our platform
  • Create meaningful and impactful reporting solutions across a broad range of business functions, including product management, user engagement, marketing, finance, and operations
  • Create visualizations to uncover trends, patterns, and insights in our data
  • Actively maintain and improve existing reporting systems, dashboards, and other key analytics data processes
  • Actively participates in relevant SDLC processes including code reviews, deployments, and health checks
  • Adheres to internal SDLC processes including code reviews and change management processes, making suggestions for improvement
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects on effective development practices, communicating with tact and professionalism
  • Create, maintain, and support software and data processes, and capabilities which align to existing standards and requirements
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the business and knowledge of data infrastructure
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing information needs, conferring with users, and examining data usage and workstream processes
  • Work with other data engineers to develop, build, and implement dependable automated build and deploy processes in our CI/CD process
  • Effectively troubleshoots errors and performance issues
  • Integrates data using a variety of data integrations techniques across platforms
  • Produces well-formed artifacts and technical documentation that align to standards and requirements
  • Provides mentorship and technical leadership to less seasoned engineers
  • Troubleshoots and quickly resolves issues in reports, dashboards, code, processes, or data sources

Preferred Strengths

  • Strong expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft® Azure platform
  • An appetite and aptitude for taking responsibility for technical decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the willingness to engage regularly with business stakeholders
  • Ability to consistently create meaningful and impactful reporting solutions across a broad range of business functions, including product management, user engagement, marketing, finance, and operations
  • A curious and energetic self-starter who is eager to learn
  • Knowledge of finance, investments, or capital markets

Requirements, skills, and knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of a modern reporting and visualization systems such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Excellent knowledge of data visualization methods and best practices
  • Successful track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large data sets
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL in a high-volume data environment
  • Experience with SDLC and CI/CD processes
  • Demonstrated strength in data modelling, data integration, and analytics
